  • "The Deed is the Main Thing" - the Talmud

We at Jewish Deaf Multimedia (JDMM) have decided to launch a new feature to our growing website: a blog!

Because JDMM's main goal is to provide Jewish education to its viewers, we have decided that the main thrust of this blog will be "the practical deed." Our blog readers should always expect to read something that will make a difference in their lives.

The Torah is our precious treasure. Even though it was given to us over 3,300 years ago, its wisdom and significance have endured the challenges of time. Just as Moses read from the Torah and connected with G-d, so too are we able to do the same.

The Tanya, one of the fundamental texts of the Chassidic movement, says in regard to the mitzvah of learning Torah:

Now this is a most wonderful unity; in the physical realm there in no unity similar or parallel to it that [the Torah learner and G-d] should actually become one and united from every side and angle. This is the distinctive, infinitely great and wonderful superiority of the mitzvah of knowing and comprehending Torah . . .

    (Tanya, Chapter 5)

In other words, when we learn Torah, we become united to G-d in a manner that is so different from any other way of connecting to G-d, such as fulfilling His commandments. This amazing effect takes place every time you watch one of our videos!

JDMM works hard to bring the eternal lessons of the Torah in ASL to our viewers. Because of this, you have an opportunity to unite with G-d in the ultimate way possible! So go ahead and take advantage of our growing video list and join us in our quest to connect with the Divine.
